Customized Orthotics

Why Orthotics?

During everyday life, your foot is always in motion and under enormous pressure from your body’s weight. As you walk or run, your entire weight lands on your feet, up to many thousands times time a day. Your feet are the anchors of your body, so it is important to keep them healthy. Poor walking patterns, abnormal biomechanics and foot imbalances can have severe effects on the body, leading to pain and poor functioning in the feet, knees, hips back and neck.

A proper customized orthotics can promote good posture and comfort in everyday movements, while also decreasing strains in joints and muscles. Many problems with the feet, legs and lower back can be remedied using orthotics.

What are Customized Orthotics?

Orthotics are custom-made medical appliances (device that is worn inside your shoes) used to support, align, prevent or correct deformities of the foot, or to improve the function of your foot. In our clinic, our computerized 3Dmaxx and Metascan system allows us to analyze in detail how your foot moves with each step, using dynamic gait analysis and a 3D foot-scan. This provides your physiotherapist with an accurate dynamic representation of your feet, and to produce custom fit orthotics that provide functional support for your feet which can fit in many types of shoes. The result is improved lower limb bio-mechanics, pain relief and function improvement.
