This is an extremely important form of treatment within the physiotherapy profession, and is still one of the most effective. There are four goals of therapeutic exercise:
- Increased muscle strength
- Improved muscle flexibility or joint range of motion
- Improved balance and coordination
- Improved posture and body awareness
This is a combination of home exercises as well as clinical exercises specifically designed to assist in rehabilitation of individual injuries. These exercises are prescribed by your Physical Therapist and serve as an adjunct to Manual Therapy, Acupuncture/IMS, and Modalities, to help patients maintain clinical progress in mobility, strength, and function that they have experienced with their Physical Therapists.
Home exercises are prescribed to provide you with the necessary tools to keep up your rehabilitation independently between physical therapy sessions or upon discharge. To help you remember the specific exercises, we provide you with a personalized handout with photos and instructions to take home.
We have a spacious, fully equipped gym in our clinic, in which you can do your exercise program under the supervision of a therapist, and also review your home exercise.
